A timeless French classic, straight from the heart of Ardèche.
Clement Faugier’s Crème de Marrons (Chestnut Cream) is the original—and still the most beloved—sweet chestnut spread in France. Created in 1885, this velvety chestnut purée is blended with vanilla to create a smooth, luscious texture and a flavour that’s both nostalgic and indulgent.

Made from marrons glacés (candied chestnuts) that are gently cooked and transformed into a rich paste, the Crème de Marrons perfectly captures the delicate, earthy sweetness of the chestnut. It’s a pantry essential in every French home, enjoyed spooned over yoghurt, spread on crêpes, or folded into whipped cream for an elegant dessert.

Tasting notes:
Sweet, nutty and delicately perfumed with vanilla. Luxuriously smooth with a subtle grain that reminds you it’s made from real chestnuts.

Serving suggestions:

  • Spread over crêpes, waffles or brioche

  • Swirled through yoghurt or vanilla ice cream

  • Folded into whipped cream or mascarpone for a quick Mont Blanc dessert

  • Paired with soft ripened cheeses like Brillat-Savarin, Cremeux de Bourgogne or Fromage de Meaux for a sweet-and-savory twist

Origin: Ardèche, France
Ingredients: Chestnuts, sugar, glucose syrup, water, vanilla extract

Did you know?
The recipe has remained unchanged for over a century. Clément Faugier first created this cream to make use of broken marrons glacés that couldn’t be sold whole—turning a clever act of sustainability into one of France’s most iconic delicacies.
